Irungarten (House Irungarten)

The Irungarten Brothers — Tycho, Sigma, Paxallo, and Bennochio

The four Irungarten brothers with Bennochio revealed in his cybernetic form

Elven for Iron Garden, the family is known for their brisk trade of finished military goods and raw swamp resources.

With their hold upon Wyrmhall the family appreciates a secure and remote location rich and ripe with the wealth of the marshes at all times of year.

They maintain a labour force throughout the wetlands having negotiated with Threetrees, Nykhas Rest and Ariston merchants, organizing regular transport of their goods up and down the Tun river.

They are known to be fiercely defensive of their position however do not get involved in any conquest or property disputes outside their own interests. They show no interest in expanding their interests, but to maintain and upkeep their existing empire.

The fraternity of four rules the city state that could. Tycho, Sigma, Paxallo and Bennochio Irungarten are each a hearty stalwart soldier of the cause amidst their brothers, each of them taking a role and specialization.

The fortress and surrounding populous are strongly defended by a range of strange technologies that seem to range from Netheril, Dwarven per Citadel Adbars defensive strategies, and some form of half elven.

The city of Irungarten is mostly suspended in a surrounding web of super structure built of steel, wood and stone where applicable respective of the terrain. Wyrmhall sits nestled in a web of this skeletal structure that supports the super gothic arrangement of Tycho and his brothers' inspiration.

The SMO or S&M

Established by Sigma and Tycho to be overseen by Bennochio, the Steamworks and Magicka Obscura is a workshop where Irungarten conducts research into whatever they may.

Fleshcrafts

Bennochio and Sigma organize the team of artificers, necromancers and clerics who conduct the duties in resurrection, grafting, astral travel, and communication.

Tychos Tower

From the top of a 30 story tower high over the city, Tycho observes the fortress, the populous expanse, tarlands and outposts through the clutch. He entrusts his many progeny with minor tasks to show their meager value beyond battery service.

Industrial Expansion & Divine Desecration

The Irungarten family's ambitions have grown far beyond the trade in finished military goods that first defined their name. In recent generations, they have mastered the extraction and refinement of raw magical essence directly from the Farseas swamp — a process that represents perhaps the most audacious act of industrial exploitation in the region's history.

The Temple of the Guardians

The Temple of the Guardians — an ancient dwarven holy site dedicated to Moradin, where the Swamp Gods themselves were originally created by divine instruction — was gutted by Irungarten elves during their expansion into the western swamp territories. The clerics who once tended the temple were displaced or destroyed; the sacred infrastructure, the relics, the records of the gods' origins — all stripped for parts or simply demolished to make way for Irungarten's pumping apparatus.

The loss of this site has had consequences beyond the merely sacrilegious. The spiritual framework that Moradin's clerics embedded in the Farsea landscape — connections between the swamp's natural energies and the divine plane — has since been reverse-engineered into Irungarten's battery technology, with no one alive aware of what they are actually exploiting.

Battery Technology: The Grey-Silver Brine

The Irungarten family's most closely guarded industrial secret is their living battery process. The raw magical essence pumped from the swamps is refined into a thick grey-silver brine — simultaneously a conductor and a digestive suspension fluid, functioning on the living or elemental matter submerged within it much as battery acid acts upon metal.

Living things — their own elementals as a matter of preference, but slaves when necessary — are placed into tanks of this brine, which slowly extracts and stores their vital and magical energy. The elementals are considered the savoir faire of this operation, their dissolution producing the purest and most stable power yields. But the Irungartens are not above using other sources when demand exceeds elemental supply.

This is, in essence, the industrialized exploitation of what was once Moradin's divine infrastructure — a process of sacred desecration that has been normalized into a trade practice. The grey-silver brine tanks of Wyrmhall and its outposts are a sight that disturbs even hardened observers: rows of reinforced glass and steel containers, each holding some dimly glowing form suspended in luminescent fluid, quietly being consumed.

House Tel'Adan Origins

The Irungarten family descends from House Tel'Adan, a line of high elves whose history predates the family's industrial turn. The body horror and cybernetic augmentation that characterizes the modern Irungartens — the "Kroonenberg style" of sleek, dirty aesthetics; elves in black leather and boots with mechanical limbs and arcane implants — represents a dramatic departure from their aristocratic origins, and one that many Tel'Adan-lineage elves view with profound discomfort.
