Erdrick Aris was the father of Jon Aris and the patriarch of the Aris Family in the generation before the current civil war. A mercenary of some distinction who once served in Cormyr service, Erdrick liberated the Farseas by force and reclaimed the ancestral seat at Castle Aris — bringing an end to the reign of Thaalim Torchtower. He was engaged in negotiating land treaties for the submerged west end of Elden's Crossing at the time of his death, a process whose unfinished records later fell to his son Jon to exhume and act upon.
