The Irungarten brothers with Bennochio Irungarten shown in his cybernetic form

Bennochio Irungarten is the elder of the Irungarten family fraternity — a tired, outspoken, and ultimately soft-hearted cyborg who has watched the family's ambitions grow from industrial pride into something he can no longer fully endorse, but cannot bring himself to oppose.

Character

Bennochio is strong and outspoken; in argument he gives as good as he gets. But beneath that bluster is a man who has lived long enough to see what his family's methods have done — to the swamp, to the people within it, to the gods who were supposed to protect it, and to his own brothers. He "wishes to see the madness stop." He is loyal to Tycho Irungarten — genuinely, deeply loyal, in the way of brothers who share a history that outsiders cannot easily understand.

But loyalty has limits. And Bennochio is approaching his.

The Fraternal Conflict

The central unresolved tension between Bennochio and Tycho is the question of where ambition ends and catastrophe begins. Tycho holds Papa Croakus hostage. Tycho controls the battery tanks and the grey-silver brine. Tycho's reading of the world is that whoever holds the most leverage holds the right to define what comes next.

Bennochio's reading is quieter and more human: that some things should not be taken. That the hostage god is a sign that something has gone fundamentally wrong with how the family is operating. That Sigma Irungarten's fate was a warning they did not heed.

If things deteriorate further — if the players force a crisis point — Bennochio is the most likely Irungarten to side with them.
