Sigma Irungarten
Sigma Irungarten

Sigma Irungarten is a member of the Irungarten family's ruling fraternity — known for speaking exclusively in rhymes — who underwent one of the most dramatic and tragic evolutions in the campaign's history: from noble elf mage to proto-lich to the scattered mycelial intelligence now known as Migma.
Three-Phase Evolution
Phase 1 — Noble Elf Mage: Sigma began as a conventional (if eccentric) member of the Irungarten fraternity, serving as the family's primary magical researcher. Facing the threat of the The Black Tar, he developed a radical solution: split his consciousness into objects distributed throughout the swamp, achieving a form of pseudo-lichedom through distribution rather than a traditional phylactery.
Phase 2 — Armored Lich: As decades passed and his distributed consciousness grew more diffuse, Sigma's coherent manifestation took the form of an armored lich — his consciousness still nominally in control, but using tar-infused armor and statues as avatars throughout Silverpool. His famous quote from this period: "The ceaseless skirmishes must end. I shall bring peace to the swamps. Whatever it takes."
Phase 3 — Migma: The final phase. The distributed consciousness expanded through the mycelial network, growing into the ecology of the swamp's underground and losing the last of its individual identity. Sigma Irungarten no longer exists as a distinct entity; he is Migma, and Migma is something that was once Sigma, and the distinction has ceased to be useful. He was ultimately vanquished in this form and absorbed by a druid player character.
Legacy
Whether the Irungarten fraternity mourns Sigma or simply considers him a resource lost to process is unclear. Bennochio Irungarten reportedly was affected by his brother's fate more than Tycho Irungarten let on.

Current Status — Sigmastra
Sigma Irungarten is currently merged with Dambastra (the black snake god of secrets), forming the fused entity known as Sigmastra. The fusion occurred during Dambastra's attempt to control the Farsea Swamp. The other guardians must intervene to magically separate them.
