Tycho Irungarten
Tycho Irungarten

Lord Tycho Irungarten is a noble who governs several hamlets along the western bank of the swamp, including the strategic fortress, Wyrmhall.
Known for his genteel demeanor and his fondness for dice games, Lord Irungarten leads a family that follows the faiths of Helm and Torm, albeit with varying degrees of devotion.
His current concern revolves around the troubling talk of civil war and of refugees on the swamp's outskirts, which threaten the stability of his holdings.
Lord Irungarten will seek answers to these unsettling reports to fulfill his commitment to the well-being of his domain.
A Centuries-Old Paladin
What the Irungarten family's public record does not emphasize — and what Tycho himself rarely discusses openly — is the depth of his personal history. Tycho Irungarten is centuries old, an elven paladin who has lived long enough to see the Farseas transform from untamed wilderness into the contested industrial battleground it is today. His faith lies with Helm and Torm, the watchful gods of guardianship and duty, though his interpretation of that duty has grown increasingly expansive with age.
He is described by those who have met him as genuinely genteel — courteous, well-read, fond of dice games, capable of the sort of gracious hospitality that makes guests forget they are in a fortress built on exploitation. Those who stay long enough begin to see the other side: a man who "wants to take all the marbles." Not out of cruelty, but out of a deep conviction that the right person holding the right resources ensures the best outcome for everyone. The fact that he considers himself that right person is, in his mind, simply honest self-assessment.
Domain: Western Bank and Wyrmhall
Tycho governs the western bank hamlets and the fortress of Wyrmhall — the industrial heart of Irungarten power, sitting atop the West Gate to Oghrann and surrounded by the mutated landscape of the The Black Fields. His authority over this territory is total and has been for generations.
The Iron Garden Climax and Papa Croakus
At the climax of the The Iron Garden arc, Tycho arrived alongside Sigma Irungarten at the pivotal confrontation in the Irungarten control complex. In its aftermath, Tycho secured something unprecedented: the capture of Papa Croakus, head of the Swamp Gods pantheon.
Papa Croakus is now held hostage by Tycho, kept "at bay" in the same fashion that Old One Eye's eggs were once vaulted by the Kropus family — as a form of leverage over an uncontrollable force. A captured god is the ultimate bargaining chip, and Tycho is not a man who relinquishes bargaining chips.
The Bennochio Conflict
Tycho's ambitions have created a fracture within the fraternity that has always governed Irungarten. His brother Bennochio Irungarten — a tired, outspoken, but ultimately soft-hearted elder — sees the harm being done and wishes for it to stop. Bennochio is loyal to Tycho but is losing faith in his brother's direction. This fraternal conflict is unresolved and represents one of the most significant internal fault lines in Irungarten power.
Tycho holds Papa Croakus. Tycho controls the batteries. Tycho governs the west. Whether the swamp's peoples — or his own brother — can do anything about it remains one of the central unresolved tensions of the current age.
