Papa Croakus
Papa Croakus

Papa Croakus is the head of the Swamp Gods pantheon — the prime patriarch of Ghedebo and the deity of marshes, midnight guidance, and communication between the mortal realm and the spirit world. Depicted with his pipe, walking cane, and watchful amber eyes, he is the guide through the swamp's treacherous waters. In the campaign present, he is a prisoner.
Domain and Significance
- Domains: Marshes, Communication, Guidance
- Sacred Watch: Late Night / Midnight
- Seat of Vestiges: Threetrees
Papa Croakus stands at the apex of the Farseas' divine hierarchy. His domain encompasses the late-night hours, the guidance of lost souls through treacherous bogs, and the communication lines between living swamp-dwellers and their ancestral spirits along The Spirit Road. He is the god that other deities of the Swamp Pantheon defer to when their individual spheres conflict.
Spells Granted (Guardian's Grimoire)
Priests, shamans, and Siv initiates who invoke Papa Croakus draw upon the following spells documented by Serena Kropus in the Guardian's Grimoire:
- Guidance of the Swamp Gods (Level 6): Allows the caster to commune directly with Papa Croakus or another deity of the swamp pantheon, receiving wisdom, omens, and navigational or spiritual counsel relevant to their plight.
- Swampwalk (Level 3): Grants the ability to stride across the Farseas marshes with effortless poise, bypassing deep muck, tangled roots, and quicksand as though walking upon solid stone.
- Fog of Concealment (Level 2): Conjures a dense, spirit-hushed marsh mist that envelops the caster and their companions, shielding travelers from hostile eyes.
Current Status: Hostage of House Irungarten
Tycho Irungarten holds Papa Croakus hostage beneath Wyrmhall (Ironclaw) following the climax of The Iron Garden arc. The means of his captivity mirror those once used by Vader Kropus to keep One Eye dormant — containment as political and metaphysical leverage over every faction that reveres the Swamp Gods.
Even in captivity, Papa Croakus's spiritual vestiges remain deeply rooted in the ancient trees and shrines of Threetrees, where Gran Sombra has begun maneuvering in the power vacuum left by his absence.
