Oghrann
Oghrann
Oghrann is a sunken dwarven ruin of considerable size and strategic importance, lying beneath the Farseas swamp. It serves as the anchor point for the The Spirit Road — accessed through three Gates embedded in the ruin — and is guarded by the Siv.
History
The ancient dwarven presence in the Farseas is confirmed by multiple lines of evidence: the cliff road carved to allow dwarven passage between Threetrees and Slymount, the Temple of the Guardians (a Moradin-dedicated holy site now gutted by the Irungarten family), and the ruins of Oghrann itself. There is reason to believe that Oghrann was once a significant dwarven religious and administrative center, its submersion in the swamp the result of some historical cataclysm.
The Storm Horns region contains references to "dwarf-cut galleries" and "older vaults sealed by forgotten dwarf-lords" that may connect to the Oghrann infrastructure. The pre-elven ruins of the Farsea Marshes — described as "buildings of ornate glass as strong as steel" — suggest that the region's dwarven and pre-elven history is layered in ways not yet fully mapped.
The Three Gates
Oghrann houses three Gates that provide access to the The Spirit Road:
- Osrinro — named for or associated with the House Osrin's historical connection to the Spirit Road
- Osrinray — the second Osrin-adjacent gate
- Ironclaw — corresponds to Wyrmhall, the Irungarten fortress that sits atop the West Gate to Oghrann; effectively under Irungarten control
The fact that the Irungarten family controls one of the three Spirit Road entry points — via Wyrmhall's position atop the Ironclaw Gate — is one of the most significant strategic advantages they hold in the current era.
Siv Guardianship
The Siv have maintained guardianship of Oghrann and its Gates since before recorded Farseas history. Their role is to enforce the The Spirit Road's access protocols: the correct hand gesture, the Channel Divinity, the coin toll to the Swamp Gods. Unauthorized entry is resisted, and the Siv's deep familiarity with Oghrann's topology — above and below the waterline — makes them formidable defenders.
Each Party Member's Gate Connection
In the current No Heroes arc, each member of the player party has a specific personal connection to one of the Oghrann Gates — a plot element that ties individual character histories to the Spirit Road's access protocols.
