Migma

Migma

Migma is an ancient fungal intelligence — an Aberration of enormous scale and terrible patience — that emerged as the final evolved form of Sigma Irungarten's fragmented consciousness, after his three-phase evolution from noble elf mage to armored lich to scattered mycelial network spanning Silverpool's underground.

Origin

Sigma Irungarten spent two hundred years developing a solution to the The Black Tar crisis by splitting his consciousness into objects — a form of pseudo-lichedom through distributed cognition rather than a traditional phylactery. The process worked, in the sense that he survived. It also produced something else: the fragments, distributed through the tar-aether flow of the swamp's underground waterways, became something more than their original host. Migma is what emerges when an elven mage's distributed consciousness meets an ancient swamp ecology and grows into it over centuries.

Current Form

Migma inhabits the Blooming Depths of Silverpool — a vast underground chamber where massive fungal and tentacle masses feed directly from the pump arrays. The body is "part of the machinery" in the most literal sense: Migma has integrated itself into the Farfetcher Pumps infrastructure, making its removal impossible without damaging the pumps themselves.

The Mushroom Queen

The Verdant Grove Druid Collective held Migma in a brutal stalemate for years — neither able to destroy it nor willing to withdraw. That stalemate ended when Eadaz, the Collective's leader, amalgamated with Migma entirely. The merged entity — now called the Eadaz — combines druidic knowledge, swamp-ecology mastery, and Migma's ancient fungal intelligence into something more dangerous than either was alone.

The Mushroom Queen is an active antagonist in the Farseas, seeking to enter the The Spirit Road — the ethereal pocket dimension that houses the Swamp Gods. The consequences of a mycelial intelligence fused with druidic power gaining access to the gods' own realm are considered catastrophic by the The Siv.

The Mushroom Queen is also a target of Warwick Osrin, whose vendetta against the Verdant Grove makes her a priority in his ongoing campaign of vengeance.

Weaknesses

Migma's regeneration is specifically blocked by Hydracephelate — the naturally occurring residue of elemental death that the Farfetcher Pumps produce as a byproduct. The House Irungarten family's control of Hydracephelate production is thus directly relevant to any effort to contain or destroy the Mushroom Queen.

Stat Block (historical): Huge Aberration, Chaotic Evil — AC 17, HP 310. Regeneration blocked by Hydracephelate. Spore Cloud (Recharge 5–6), Tentacle Slam x4. Legendary Actions: Tentacle Sweep, Burrowing Ambush, Spore Pulse.
