Warwick Osrin — known as "The Splintered Knight" — is the son of Eleanor Osrin and the father of Yorick Osrin, making him the second generation of the House Osrin family tree. He is also, in the present day, something between a man, a spirit, a tar-beast, and a broken monument to what grief and a Thayan soul-splintering ritual can do to someone who was once genuinely extraordinary.

Before the Breaking

Warwick was Eleanor's firstborn — a brilliant warrior-scholar who became The Carnival's most militant protector during the Osrin family's flight from Thay. He combined the intellectual legacy of the Osrin name with a warrior's body and a guardian's purpose: the person standing between the family and the world that wanted to destroy it.

He was caught in a Thayan "soul-splintering ritual" — a variant of the Unmaking spell — during the Osrin flight, when Thayan forces caught up with the family. The ritual tore his soul into fragments. He did not die; instead, he recongealed in the swamp over time, pulled back into coherence by the swamp's own energies, but never fully repaired.

His Mother's Curse

Warwick watched the Thayans curse his mother Eleanor Osrin into the form of a silver goose. He understood the specificity of the cruelty: the House Osrin family crest bears a silver goose, and the Thayans had chosen Eleanor's curse to mirror her own house's heraldry — stripping her of humanity while wearing the face of everything the Osrins represented. It was not merely a transformation. It was a permanent declaration of Thayan contempt.

Eleanor's inability to return to human form, and her subsequent sacrifice inside the Osrin fire-elemental reactor alongside the fire daemon Karsath, left Warwick with a grief that has calcified into purpose: he means to restore The Carnival and resurrect his mother from the silver goose form she was forced into. Whether Eleanor can still be restored — whether the reactor has preserved anything of her, or only a flicker between human and avian shapes — is something Warwick has not yet been forced to answer.

Current State

Warwick manifests as a hybrid entity: part spectral knight, part tar-beast, part the old noble he once was. He moves through Silverpool via black tar flows, fungal masses, and broken statues that serve as anchor points for his fragmented consciousness. He is semi-stable thanks to druidic energies, The Black Circle inkweaving, and Migma's fungal blooms — a precarious coherence that could collapse under sufficient pressure.

Stat Block (Boss Template): Medium undead (or aberration/ooze/undead hybrid), Chaotic Neutral — AC 18, HP 290. Resistances to Necrotic, Psychic, and Slashing damage; immunities to Poison and Acid. Legendary Actions: Ink Step (teleport 60 ft.), Splinter Howl (WIS save or Frightened), Tar Snare.

Goals

Warwick's primary drive is vengeance: against the Irungarten family (who sold out Osrin technology), against House Foxmantle (political puppets), and against the Thayans (who cursed and broke his family). His secondary goal — fragile, buried under layers of rage — is to restore The Carnival and resurrect Eleanor from her silver goose form.

Redemption Path

If those who would oppose him can prevent Warwick from killing Eadaz, Eleanor may yet claim her son. Gran Sombra has indicated that under such conditions, the swamp gods could be ordered to release their tethers and the family shepherded to Kelemvor's realm at last.
