Silverpool

Silverpool

Silverpool is one of the most visually striking and most dangerous locations in the Farseas — a place where the swamp's natural beauty, its industrial history, and its most malevolent elements converge in a landscape unlike anything else in the region.

Description

Silverpool takes its name from the silver-grey sheen of its central water body, a quality caused by elevated concentrations of Hydracephelate — the elemental death-essence naturally produced when elementals die — that have leached into the water from the Farfetcher pump infrastructure below. The effect is eerie and beautiful in equal measure: the pool's surface catches light in ways that ordinary water does not, and the surrounding area glows faintly at night with a diffuse bioluminescence fed by the fungal network that has permeated the ground in the aftermath of Migma's long occupation.

Collapsed carnival tunnels run beneath Silverpool — the remnants of The Carnival, the mobile semi-planar vessel created by Eleanor Osrin and Warwick Osrin during the worst years of Thayan persecution. Faded banners, rusted rides, and distorted music boxes are embedded in the walls of these tunnels, which are half-submerged and unstable. A half-submerged Mirror Tent somewhere in the collapsed network acts as a portal locus — unstable but restorable, for those who know how.

The Farfetcher Pump Infrastructure

The underground network beneath Silverpool is the original mechanical heart of the Farseas methane and tar processing operation, designed and built by Rutherford Farfetcher. The pumps separate tar from elemental substrate through a distillation process that produces Hydracephelate as a byproduct — the same substance that neutralises The Black Tar and blocks Migma's regeneration.

The pumps were sabotaged by Thayan agents planted among the Drovers of Silverpool, who stole the Hydracephelate produced during the pulling process. Without Hydracephelate to neutralise it, pressure built and tars rose — creating the Black Tar crisis. The pumps have since been partially restored.

Migma and the Verdant Grove

The Blooming Depths beneath Silverpool — the deepest section of the tunnel network, where fungal growth is most intense — was the domain of Migma, the ancient fungal intelligence that evolved from Sigma Irungarten's scattered consciousness over two centuries of development. Migma's body became part of the machinery itself: massive fungal and tentacle masses feeding from the pump arrays, regenerating endlessly unless struck by Hydracephelate.

The Verdant Grove Druid Collective maintained a brutal stalemate with Migma for years — preventing its expansion while being unable to destroy it without collapsing the tunnels. That stalemate ended when the druid Eadaz amalgamated with the mycelium network to become Eadaz, creating a new and more dangerous entity that is no longer content to stay underground.

Warwick Osrin

Warwick Osrin — "the Splintered Knight" — manifests most strongly around Silverpool. His semi-spectral form moves through the black tar and fungal masses of the area, kept semi-stable by the druidic energies, Black Circle inkweaving, and Migma's old fungal blooms that converge here. Broken statues, patches of animated tar, and the occasional appearance of a figure in crumbling armour mark his presence.

He is still here. He is still reaching.

The Iron Garden Arc

Silverpool was the site of the central events of Season 3 (the Iron Garden arc). The climax involved a control room puzzle, the release of Eleanor Osrin and Karsath from the fire-elemental reactor, the arrival of Tycho Irungarten with Sigma Irungarten in tow, an etheric bomb detonation, and the capture of Papa Croakus by the Irungartens. The Black Tar was neutralised; Hydracephelate was dispersed through the restored pump system; the Swamp Gods were wounded but not destroyed.
