Thaymount is the jagged, volcanic mountain plateau at the heart of Thay, where rivers of molten magma carve through obsidian canyons spanned by dark stone bridges and the fortified spires of the Red Wizards.

High upon the sulfur-choked ridges of Thaymount stand the citadels of the Zulkirs and the aristocratic wizard-clans — including the Bacharuss Family and Grakoss Family, who bound the lower-planar daemon Karzath to assassinate the scholar Etterych Osrin.

It was from the volcanic forges of Thaymount that Eleanor Osrin escaped with the foundational secrets of elemental distillation and Hydracephelate, trading the rivers of lava for the cold marshes of the Farseas and the green estates of Osrin Manor. Centuries later, fugitive Thayan scholars such as Malakor Viridian still flee Thaymount's ruthless necromantic hierarchy.
