Bacharuss Family

The Bacharuss family is a powerful Thayan noble clan whose name is preserved in Farseas history not for any achievement of their own, but because of the catastrophic consequences of their political violence.

The Assassination of Etterych Osrin

Acting jointly with the Grakoss Family, the Bacharuss family summoned and directed the daemon Karzath — a powerful despot entity bound to their collective will — to assassinate Etterych Osrin, the husband of Eleanor Osrin, in Thay. The reasons behind this targeted killing have been attributed to political rivalry, factional power struggles within Thay's noble hierarchies, and the desire to seize or neutralize research and influence that the Osrin name represented.

The assassination succeeded. Etterych died. But the consequences unfolded in ways the Bacharuss and Grakoss families could not have anticipated.

Unintended Legacy

The death of Etterych drove Eleanor Osrin to flee Thay entirely — traveling as far from her homeland as possible, ultimately reaching Cormyr, where she met Hiren Kropus. What followed from that meeting was the founding of the entire Farseas enterprise: the methane industry, the cities of Nykhas Rest and Threetrees, and the political order that has defined the swamp for generations.

The Bacharuss family sought to eliminate a threat. Instead, they set in motion the creation of a civilization.

Standing

The Bacharuss and Grakoss families are not part of the broader Forgotten Realms record. They are Farseas originals — Thayan noble houses whose influence has been felt entirely through the ripple effects of a single act of violence.
