The Coralheart Family (The Coralhearts) are the ruling power of Threetrees — the native capital of the Farseas and a sprawling vertical-and-agricultural metropolis five times the size of Nykhas Rest — having risen to governance following the chaos of The Suh'Skel's insurrection and the overthrow of the old frog and lizardfolk council in approximately 1505 DR.

Operating Threetrees

From the spider-strand causeways and hollowed trunks of the three colossal central trees down to the vast agricultural districts radiating across the marshlands, the Coralhearts administer a city of hundreds of thousands of swamp denizens. Under their stewardship, bullywugs, lizardfolk, grungs, fish-peoples, and marsh drovers coexist in a dense mosaic of beastly civilization that defies every prejudice of the Cormyrean nobility.

Rise to Power

The Coralhearts succeeded the Wartscale Family as the dominant native political force in the Farseas. Where the Wartscales built their prominence during the early civilizing years of the swamp — centered originally in Nykhas Rest before Threetrees eclipsed it as the political hub — the Coralhearts emerged as the power capable of filling the vacuum left after the Suh'Skel's violent seizure of the old council.

Their relationship to the Suh'Skel ideology is complex. The Coralhearts are not simply Shadow Scale puppets, but they rule in the aftermath of Shadow Scale violence, and the political landscape they navigate is one shaped by the insurrection's success.

Notable Members & The Vanished Matriarch

  • Xevus Coralheart: Lizardfolk council member during the pre-Suh'Skel period whose kidnapping by the Suh'Skel in a daytime raid opened Season 1 of The Farsea Chronicles. Married to a bullywug wife, Xevus represents the cross-species negotiation wing of western tribal politics in Threetrees.
  • The Coralheart Matriarch: The vanished matriarch of the Coralheart line. During the standoff at Pollo's Potions, Thorn revealed to Bogg that the Coralheart Matriarch's essence is being held captive inside the sunken Irungarten pod-vats beneath Wyrmhall (Ironclaw).
  • Bogg: Agile Bullywug Rogue (Thief) and marsh scout representing the Coralheart Tribe in Suzail, trading rare swamp reagents at Pollo's Potions while hunting for the truth behind the Coralheart Matriarch's disappearance.

Current Situation (1507 DR)

The Coralhearts hold Threetrees in a period of regional civil war while The Suh'Skel still operates from the Cathedral Barge under Carrsack (the Overfather) and House Irungarten secretly holds the Coralheart Matriarch's essence beneath Ironclaw.
