Stormhorns

Stormhorns

The Stormhorns are a mountain range forming the eastern boundary of the Farseas, separating the swamp region from the civil centers of Cormyr. They serve as a natural barrier that historically made the Farseas difficult to access and govern from the east.

Dwarven History

The Storm Horns contain evidence of significant dwarven habitation: dwarf-cut galleries cut deep into the rock, and older vaults sealed by forgotten dwarf-lords whose names and purposes have been lost. This dwarven presence connects to the broader history of dwarven activity in the Farseas itself — including the cliff roads carved to allow dwarven passage through Slymount's rocky terrain, and the Temple of the Guardians where Moradin's clerics established the spiritual foundations of the Swamp Gods.

Methane Transport

The Stormhorns pose a significant logistical challenge for methane transport: moving methane cylinders from the Farseas to Cormyrean markets required expensive magical portaling or treacherous mountain routes. The cost of this magecraft transport was so high that it helped spawn the smuggling industry that eventually became the The Black Circle.
